About Ordu

Nestled within a lush coastal valley where the slopes of Pontic Mountains meet the Black Sea lies the scenic province of Ordu. Serving as the largest city and administrative center with around 350,000 residents, it enjoys a mild climate and economy based on agriculture, fishing and tourism. Surrounding Ordu, steep hillsides sustain citrus orchards and tea plantations featured in local foods. Within the historic core, landmarks like an 11th-century castle complex and Old Mosque retain Ottoman influences. Nearby towns Perşembe and Fatsa exhibit traditional wooden architecture.

Outdoor escapes extend along highways passing waterfalls, forest trails and deserted beaches tucked within caves. Thermal pools emerge in Gölköy and Mesudiye, ideal for relaxation. Rural high villages like Çambaşı preserve medieval atmospheres.

Well-connected via Ordu-Giresun Airport and roads to Giresun and Samsun, the modern city provides accommodation from pensions to hotels near cafes lining pedestrian İskele Avenue by the riverfront. It serves as a convenient base for exploring the varied attractions of this lush Black Sea province.
